eport on the location – Planning team meeting

When I arrived in Herbstein, it felt as though the place was welcoming me like an old friend. From the very first step, there was a quiet familiarity in the air – almost as if the ground itself recognised my footsteps.
I immersed myself in the wintry, sombre charm of this land, where silence speaks its own language and every breath connects me more deeply with the earth. Above me, tree creepers, titmice and sparrows called out – their voices a quiet greeting of the coming spring. Squirrels scurried busily between the branches, and as darkness enveloped the day, the call of a tawny owl gave me a sense of peace and security.
That night, a sky of rare clarity opened up above the holiday village. The constellations seemed to whisper stories to me, and I felt my thoughts drifting far away – beyond the forests, towards longings and goals that lie deep within me. Beneath this sparkling firmament, every word, every smile and every thought felt meaningful. I sensed that everything visible is merely part of a greater fabric that connects us all.
This web – as delicate as the light in the morning dew, as strong as the roots of ancient trees – became for me a symbol of our theme: ‘Weaving the Web’.
I could literally feel ideas, actions and encounters weaving themselves into a living web: humanity and nature, past and future, dream and deed. Every thread we spin together brings its own radiance to the whole.
In the frozen ground, I read the tracks of the wildlife – quiet tales of the invisible life of the night, which continues to unfold in its silent order. The river, wild and unyielding, defined a space where nature and humanity are allowed to breathe side by side. I let myself drift amongst groves of trees, enchanted paths and open glades – places that invite one to linger, dream and listen.
A peculiar, luminous energy permeated this place. I felt it in the wind, in the branches, in the moss beneath my feet. It was as though the guardians of this land were watching over us with a benevolent gaze – as if to say: “You are welcome.”
As our circle drew to a close, a fox appeared. Quiet, alert, dignified. To me, it was a messenger between worlds – the spirit animal of our circle, protecting us and confirming to me that we are on the right path.
And so this planning weekend in Herbstein bid me farewell like a companion whispering to me: “Keep going.” I returned as part of a community that connects the visible with the mysterious – with a spark within me that carries ideas, confidence and the knowledge that every step, however small, is part of a great shared journey.
